The Core Cleaning Performance Is Genuinely Strong
In testing, it consistently picked up nearly every piece of robot-vacuum-sized debris it encountered, and the rubber rollers resisted hair and string tangling that plagues cheaper models. Mopping cleared tough sidewalk salt residue and left floors with a streak-free finish. On the basics this is a genuinely capable machine, which makes the problems elsewhere more frustrating rather than less.
The Chassis Lift Doesn't Know Carpet From a Rug
The automatic lift is meant to help the robot handle long-pile carpets, but it struggles to distinguish thick carpet from thinner rugs. With the chassis lifted, vacuuming performance drops noticeably except on the thickest carpet, and it was observed staying lifted on hard floors at least once, which defeats the point of a feature meant to improve cleaning rather than reduce it.
Navigation Gets Genuinely Confused
During longer cleaning sessions, the robot repeatedly got stuck with app errors saying it couldn't find its way back to the dock. In one case it bumped into the same chair leg and wall repeatedly and spent an hour retracing the same spots without making progress. A cleaning job covering around 300 square feet took anywhere from 70 minutes to over two hours, and one combined mop-and-vacuum run stretched from 11pm to nearly 3am.
Pet Features That Don't Always Work as Advertised
The pet-recognition features failed to identify pets during testing, which means several of the marketed pet-related capabilities simply didn't function as described. If pet-aware navigation and cleaning were a specific reason you were considering this model, it's worth knowing this feature doesn't reliably deliver on its own premise.
An Expensive Machine That Should Be More Consistent
At around $1,700, the price sets a high bar, and the inconsistencies in navigation and the chassis lift's carpet detection are hard to justify at that cost. The dock itself, which washes and dries mop pads and runs quieter than some rivals, is a genuine highlight. But buyers paying flagship prices should expect flagship consistency throughout, not just in the parts that work well.
